Exclusively from SDU, Search Provider (IE) and Search Engine (Firefox) plug-ins are available to download and implement in your environment.


Description

Use of these plug-ins allow for searching for a specific Request, Incident, Problem, Change Order, Issue, or Configuration Item (aka Asset) directly from the search box. The functionality mimics that of the the Go Button search found in the upper-right corner of the Service Desk Analyst Interface.

It is highly recommended to utilize External Authentication for Service Desk to make these plug-ins even more useful.


Implementation Procedures

IE7
  1. Click Here to download the IE7 Search Provider plug-ins.
  2. Unzip the download
  3. Edit the .reg file by replacing all instances of <<SERVER>> with the servername or IP Address of a Service Desk server in your environment and by removing the undesired items.
  4. Double-click the .reg file and agree to both prompts.
  5. Restart IE
Firefox 2.x/3.x
  1. Click Here to download the Firefox Search Engine plug-ins.
  2. Unzip the download
  3. Edit the desired .xml files by replacing all instance of <<SERVER>> with the servername or IP Address of a Service Desk server in your environment.
  4. Move the desired .xml files to the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins directory on your local PC
  5. Restart Firefox
