Available exclusively from SDU are Search Provider/Engine plug-ins for Service Desk. These plug-ins add Service Desk searching capabilities to the search options found in IE7 and Firefox 2.x/3.x. With these plug-ins any ticket or Configuration Item can be access directly from an internet browser.

Note: These plug-ins work best if Service Desk is configured for External Authentication.


Implementation Procedures

IE7 stores Search Providers in the system registry and Firefox saves them as .xml files. This difference is the reason separate downloads and instructions are needed.

IE7
  1. Click Here to download the IE7 Search Provider plug-ins.
  2. Unzip the download
  3. Edit the .reg file by replacing all instances of <<SERVER>> with the servername or IP Address of a Service Desk server in your environment and by removing the undesired items.
  4. Double-click the .reg file and agree to both prompts.
  5. Restart IE

  1. Click Here to download the Firefox Search Engine plug-ins.
  2. Unzip the download
  3. Edit the desired .xml files by replacing all instance of <<SERVER>> with the servername or IP Address of a Service Desk server in your environment.
